Foundation Art Show
February 18th, 2010, 5:00pm - 7:30pm

Come see your child's artwork that is available to be purchased. There will also be a hands on craft for your child to do. We will have a Door Prize Drawing for the chance to win prizes. Please send in your RSVPs, so that we will know to frame your child's artwork. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the school's Foundation.

After School - With the Foundation!

The Foundation is proud to coordinate many new after school programs, including Brainy Builders (building with Lego!), Yoga for kids (Yoginis), and our ever-popular Chess Club and Performing Arts with Blake Cooper. Make sure you check out these events and register today!

A Message From Our Presidents

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! As many of you are aware, the Timber Ridge Foundation provides resources to enhance the school’s ability to create rich educational experiences for all children through technology, science, the arts, and cutting edge classroom experiences. These are programs, human resources, and equipment that would not be offered through the school’s state funding. Through your generous donations, last year alone, the Foundation:

  • Purchased and mounted eighteen new Smart Boards (all classrooms K-5 are now equipped with Smart Boards!)
  • Procured sixteen Airliner Tablets
  • Paid the salary for the school’s full time Science/Technology Instructor
  • Provided Grants for every classroom teacher and their websites
  • Offered after school programs including Spanish, Kid Chess, and Drama

To continue with our great strides, we need your continued support this school year. The Foundation’s Direct Patron Drive will begin on August 29, 2009 and run through October 29, 2009. Our campaign goal is to raise another $51,500 from our Timber Ridge families. To reach this amount, the Patron Drive is designed so that each family can contribute $110 per child.

Of course, we welcome larger donations, smaller donations and donations received past the official dates of the Drive. Any money provided makes a difference in the programs and technology we can bring to the school. Capital raised this year will be deployed to cover the cost of both our existing efforts, as well as new programs being developed. Some of our newer initiatives include:

  • In-depth technology training for our Teachers
  • Acquisition of seven additional Smart Boards for the “Specials” classrooms
  • Hands-on science sessions for each child through an onsite field trip with High Touch-High Tech
  • Yoga and Brainy Builders (a Lego construction program)

Thank you again for your support of the Foundation. It is with your much needed contributions that we can make a difference at Timber Ridge and for our children. Please feel free to reach out to any Board Member if you have any questions or if we can be of any assistance.

Regards,

Lorna Chastain, Co-President
Karen Minnick, Co-President

Timber Ridge Foundation Makes a Difference
Dr. Tracie Doe, Principal, Timber Ridge Elementary

The Timber Ridge Foundation has made a definite impact on the education of our students. We currently have SMART Boards in every grade level classroom and 16 Airliner tablets in use on our classrooms as well. These technology tools have helped us increase the level of student engagement in our classes. Our learning walk data indicates that just over the course of this school year the level of student engagement in instruction has increased significantly in most grade levels. Without the support of the foundation we would not have these tools in our building.

Our students benefit from consistent quality instruction in our computer lab. Our computer lab instructor is funded completely by our foundation. This benefit impacts every child at Timber Ridge as they learn computer skills and build interest in the use of technology tools.

The Foundation also provides the resources for each teacher to have a teacher blog. This tool can be used to communicate with parents and to provide useful links for students. This meaningful form of communication would not be possible for us with the monetary support of the Timber Ridge Foundation.

The additions of the technology tools have had a major impact on the level of student engagement which of course directly impacts student achievement. As a staff we are grateful for all the Foundation and parents of Timber Ridge students have provided for us. We encourage all of our families to continue to support Timber Ridge through your donation to the Foundation.

I encourage you to support our Timber Ridge Foundation in any way you are able to this year!
